Our Miqlat potlucks

Potluck

The Miqlat family shares quite a lot of fun moments. Our work is demanding, tough and brain stroming, but we make a conscious effort to make time to have fun, relax, share, and encourage. We cannot wffort a very expensive outing, so we share our food and lives through potlucks. This is one such moment when we not only enjoy eating but also enjoy fellowshipping together.

Miqlat Women's Center Mother's Day Event - May, 2008

Miqlat has been experiencing so many unexpected opportunities and blessings, and for which we are truly humbled and honoured. This time with the dawn of Mother’s Day, I was kind of worried thinking what would be the best thing for us to do and also the best gift to give to these precious women. Of course, prayer is the best gift, but sometimes prayer doesn't make much sense to women when they are in dire need of their daily bread and clothes. But very unexpectedly, two groups of women approached to celebrate Mother’s Day with Miqlat staff members.

Truly God knows the desire and also the silent prayer of our hearts. People get to celebrate only one Mother’s Day a year but for Miqlat family, we got to celebrate a one-day event three times with different groups of people. Not only did these group of people come and pray for us, but they also blessed our women with some of their basic needs. I was thinking in my heart, "God you are amazing!" If these people brought clothes or some other stuff such as a gift for these women, only then would they enjoy it. But how good are you Dear God that you have given them the wisdom to bless these women with basic household needs that will not only help meet their individual needs, but also the needs of their whole family. I think that is something the whole family will enjoy together and that will give more weight to the meaning of Mother’s Day.

God not only blesses us with mothers, but God also provides for us through mothers. Altogether, about 30 women came and joined with us in the Miqlat Mother’s Day event. Mothers who never get a wish from their husbands, who have never received any gifts for Mother’s Day, and who has never attended Mother’s Day service got the opportunity to witness the love of God for mothers on this very day. Tears of joy streamed from the eyes of many, and it was one of the richest moments for experiencing the joy of motherhood for many.

Miqlat Women's Center Valentine's Day Party - February 14, 2008

For the first time ever on February 14, 2008, Miqlat-Nagaland celebrated Valentine’s Day with in-need women of Dimapur the organization serves. As Asha shared her dream with some friends to hold this event, many came forward to help, and it was the best Valentine’s Day that Asha and these women ever experienced!

The party decorations and arrangements were taken care by the wonderful Dimapur group called “Friends of Miqlat”. The women who attended all showed up on-time so well-dressed that it was difficult for Asha and the Miqlat-Nagaland staff to recall how they looked on other days. A simple yet grand party was given especially to these women, and it was a great blessing to everyone. It was truly a Valentine’s Day with a difference! Click here to see other photos of this event.

It made everyone rejoice knowing that we were celebrating the first Miqlat-Nagaland Valentine's Day event with deep love for Jesus in our hearts. Many of the women said that it was their first time that had celebrated Valentine's Day. Asha was personally grateful that God gave her the mind to think of a plan, and then organize such a meaningful event that so positively affected the lives of needy women. She feels honored to be able to serve such a great, creative God in this way!

February 28-29 2008 Women's Empowerment Seminar

On the 28th and 29 February, 2008, Miqlat-Nagaland held a two-day workshop on Women Empowerment and related issues with our in-need women clients. It was truly a success! Around 65 women showed up, which was way beyond our expectations. These women are daily bread-earners. They eat if they get paid, and they don’t eat if they don’t get paid, but that did not stop about 65 women from attending. Click here to see/print a copy of the full report about this seminary from Miqlat-Nagland Director Asha Sanchu.

You see friends, what I want to tell you is that God is truly at work, and I am sure He’ll expand the Miqlat-Nagaland horizon even as you all partner with us in prayer. Some women who attended the seminar even said that they would become good people. They are very good people, and the Miqlat-Nagaland staff loves them all, and it breaks our hearts to think that these in-need women think of themselves as not good.
