Miqlat started with a vision from God and a burden for the down trodden voiceless women of our society. It is pellucid that God blesses His people who work with deep commitment and genuine vision. As I retrospect, I’m truly amazed to see God stretching Miqlat since its inception. Today, we are truly honoured and grateful that God is blessing Miqlat with people from different streams and backgrounds that in fact are contributing a lot to the enhancement of Miqlat ministry.
Words are inadequate to express our deep gratitude to all who stood with us in prayer and loving support all the way as we struggle to fulfill God’s calling – His mission here on earth.
A. Key Activities
A1. Trainings: Besides tailoring, the introduction of sequence and embroidery work was a boon for our women, for it sharpened their skills and boost up their morale.
A2. Card making: Miqlat now produces card of the highest quality good for any and every season. Earlier, card making was one alternative we offer to the women but practically it was not working out well so card making was stopped for a time being. Only in May 2009, we started again not as a training program but as a production unit after refining and thorough training. Card making is in great demand and is going on well. From May 2009 to September 2009, we were able to produce 317 cards.
A3. Soap making: Training on soap making was conducted from the 27th of March to 1st of April 2009 where four of our women underwent training. Ever since the training and production of soap, the response has been very good and encouraging. Two varieties of soap are produced – lemon and aloevera. Both are equally healing and on demand. Till date we have produced 777 soaps and we are glad that though it’s a simple production unit, we are able to help the women with the generated income.
A4. Catering Services: Our God is a creative God and He has endowed that creativity in us. But at times, we just get stuck that we are not able to think beyond what we see. This is true even with the Miqlat family but God blew us off by opening ways to render catering services. A completely different direction, yet a very exciting route. Miqlat was blessed with the opportunity to render catering services at three different meetings. We are grateful to NDO and also Police Church for blessing us in making use of our services. We look forward to more catering opportunities.
A5. Devotion, Bible Study, Fasting and prayer: In the Spiritual nurturing program, we have bible study every second Friday of the month and devotion every Friday. Till June 2009, Sashila from OTS was taking up the bible study. But she has to leave for the States, so from August Acibu sakhrie has been taking up the Bible study. Fasting and prayer is conducted every first Friday of the month where all the staffs come together giving thanks and interceding to God for so many people and reasons.
A6. Church Visit: Having NBCCWD in the forefront in most of the Miqlat Ministry promotional work, we were able to say “thank you” as we visit several churches that have been a part and parcel of this humble ministry.
A7. Home Visits: We are blessed to have visited so many of the women’s home, sick families and organizations. This turn out to be a good way of building trust relationships too.
A8. Social work: Manual labour is part of Miqlat Ministry. Staying in a big compound also demands a lot of effort to make it liveable. As a whole, we enjoy working. But at times, it wears us out because every single work from wiring, construction to cleaning and digging we have to do it since we don’t have any men to help us. But all this hard work has made us tougher, wiser and also more efficient. It has boost up our confidence so much that we feel we can build a building on our own provided we have a land. Altogether, we had 8 times social work till date.
A9. Skip one meal, save a life campaign: The grand finale of the campaign “skip one meal, save a life” was held on the 6th of December 2008 at the Miqlat cafeteria with Ms. Menuo Keditsu as the key speaker. The campaign on the whole was tough but it was also an eye opener for many. All glory and praise be to God for the provision and success of the campaign.
A10. Retreats and exposure: For the first time in the history of Miqlat Ministry, we had our staff exposure trip to Guwahati from the 18th of December to 21st of December 2008 and our staff retreat to Niathu Resort on the 26th of May 2009. Both the trip and retreat was wild, fun, enriching and adventurous venture. It also in a lot of way connected us better to a deeper level.
A11. Workshop: A two days couples consultative workshop together with Development Human Potential (DHP) was conducted on the 29th and 30th of April 2009 where about 30 couples turn up for both the days.
A12. Board Meetings: The nature of Miqlat ministry is such that anything emergency/urgent pops up anytime. So depending on the need of the ministry, the Miqlat Board met 9 times till date to discuss and resolve various issues pertaining to the need and welfare of the ministry.
A13. Sports Day: Ours is a stressful demanding work. So we need a lot of energy to keep going and we only feel energised when we let out those stressful stuff inside us. We found games and sports to be a good way to release our stresses. So we had a very entertaining and lively sports day together with the Shalom interns on the 21st of June 2009. Ms. Rokosieno was the sports officer and Kheli backed the overall champion.

C.Internship: Knowing the need of the ministry, God in His best time keep sending dynamic people to help us out. Ms. Sharon Lohe from UBS, Pune helped us in different aspects all through the month of May. Then in June we had 10 interns from Shalom Biblical Seminary who helped fully in the Outreach program. Then in July, we had three volunteers from Oriental Theological Seminary who also helped in outreach ministry. We praise God for the lives of these young committed women and we acknowledge their tireless service to the Miqlat family.
D. Miqlat Buffet: The Miqlat Board and the staff of Miqlat Ministry in collaboration with the Dimapur Baptist Women Union held a buffet for Miqlat Ministry on the 2nd of October 2009 at Miqlat premises. The buffet was especially intended to raise salary for the staff for 2010. The response was incredible and we want to say “Thank You” to all those who tirelessly prayed, helped and contributed.
E. Miqlat Pigs: As of now, Miqlat is rearing only three pigs Pim, Pom and Pam. By God’s grace, they are growing healthy and keeping well. Quite a handful of people have even contributed for our three pigs and we want to say “Thank You”. In the future, we hope to have a real piggery farm.
F. Miqlat Shelter: We have seven girls and one warden in our shelter now. It’s a shelter where they live like a family. They have their own menu and cook their own food. Their daily chores include feeding the pigs, cleaning, fetching water and so on. Under the able guidance of the warden, the girls are really growing and we see so much of positive changes in them. Every sunday they have their fellowship from 10:00 -11:00 A.M where they not only get to worship God but also get to participate in different activities. Day time each one of them has their own assigned work. Miqlat shelter is a place where we dream to bless young girls and women with a homely atmosphere which is a rare experience for so many of our young broken girls and women. It’s a home where they live as siblings and not bound by so many do’s and dont’s. So many have been tirelessly contributing to make our shelter more homely and liveable. THANK YOU!!!!!
G. Sunday School: Since the inception of Miqlat Ministry, we have only been recipients of blessings in every ways. We are humbled and grateful but we also feel it’s time we also need to share our blessings with those who are less fortunate and unattended like so many of us once were. I think rail Bazaar is one of the most crowded place in Dimapur where every form of visible evil takes place. We can just feel the darkness whenever we go there. Interestingly, it is also packed with a huge number of children and a lot of minors worked as daily wage earners to support the family. In reality, these minors should be in school and some of them even just been cranky around their mothers. But sadly their childhood is stolen because of the socio economic problem. The plights of these children are pathetic. So prayerfully we have started a Sunday School in Rail bazaar to reach out to these children with the love of God and also give the chance to our women to minister as they have always been ministered. We have assisted them for three months and now the girls go on their own every Sunday morning to rail bazaar from 7:00 a.m to 8:00 a.m touching the lives of these children with what they have received all through these years from so many of you.
Opportunities & Challenges
- We have been favoured with gifts and visits from people from all walks of lives, from the lowest to the highest, from interior villages to foreign countries as well. The Lord enables us to share and also learn from each other.
- We are constantly facing the challenges of the pressing need as we work among the down trodden women with limited resources to meet their needs.
- We have the joy of seeing the changed lives of women whom we have painstakingly disciple year after year. We are overwhelmed with confusion and discouragement to see some of them going back to their old lives. Suffice it to say that only Jesus is our answer.
Thank you again!!!
Continue to journey with us in prayer as we take the frontline knowing that
the battle belongs to God
